Essence is a member of Team DEVO and is currently a sophomore at Thousand Oaks High School in Thousand Oaks, California. Racing since she was age 9, Essence currently competes in the Junior Women division. One of the sports most promising young, female athletes, Barton's major 2007 accomplishments include 1st in the Junior Expert Women 2007 Fontana National Cross Country, 1st in the Junior Expert Women 2007 Sea Otter Classic Cross Country, and 1st in the Junior Expert Women 2007 NOVA Time Trial.
